The “Buttonpush” showcase series returns for a spring soiree in the heart of Westport!!!

Since returning in 2016, “Buttonpush” has staked its claim as a diversified celebration of beatmakers. Saturday, April 28 – marks another installment in the producer performance series. The show will take place at miniBar (3810 Broadway) on the second floor, known as The Disaster Room. The quartet of producers this trip is comprised of Skills Lane, KDS, Divinecontroller and Ben Swiller. Hip Hop artist MC Storm will serve as the show’s lone musical guest. Storm and each of the producers will have consecutive 30-minute sets throughout the night. Admission for this show is $5 for all patrons aged 21 or older. Doors will open at 9:30pm and the show will begin promptly with an opening selector set from Reach.

Storm, veteran emcee of the Kansas City Hip Hop scene, has been a well-regarded stateswoman of the culture for more than a decade. Recently, she’s been diversifying her contributions to the community. She co-wrote and produced a stage play -- “Sun of the Revolution” – that ran for a week during Kansas City’s Fringe Festival. Her latest music video release, titled “Storm”, features Khajewel and left coast underground legend C-Bo.

Reach has always prided himself on creating new avenues to showcase local artists. “Buttonpush” has been re-invented over the past two years to reclaim its spot among a vibrant beat community. This series intends to display the depth and breadth of the area’s production talent. Showcases of this ilk often pigeonhole themselves to one specific sub-genre, but Reach aims to buck that trend. This installment will feature various production styles from a few distinct Hip Hop sub-genres. Producers are taking center stage in Kansas City and “Buttonpush” has its sights set on helping them stay there for the foreseeable future.
