Shoebox Money
Shoebox Money
Shoebox Money started in 2014 when Ben W. (lead guitarist), Patrick (Bass), and Quinn (Former Drummer) met in the first week of college. They set out to create a band that eventually became the neo-blues project Shoebox Money. They started playing shows in 2015 with Patrick's roommate Reid as lead singer and floormate Jeremy as rhythm guitarist, The band found some success early on opening for bands like Postboy from Wichita as well as Lawrence bands Fair Weather Criminals and Mr. Jeeb. They took a summer hiatus but released a self titled demo over the break featuring the single, "Make you Feel Crazy". When they returned in Fall of 2015 and opened for the touring bands the Wilderness from Kingston Canada and Digg from Colorado as well as headlining the charity concert music for medicine. Some of their old performance videos can be found on their youtube channel.

Reid then parted ways with the band and Jeremy became the new lead singer. The band then struggled to write new music for some time but still put on successful shows at Bullwinkles bar and an opening slot at Pearson Rock-A-Thon. Following their performance at Rock-A-Thon then band announced a 9 month hiatus to reevaluate their musical interests and future. As a result of this break Jeremy left to start a separate project emo/indie punk project and Quinn joined the band Hireth. Patrick and Ben W. went through a very short experimental phase with solo artist Jansen Wooton before they parted ways on Mutual terms to get back to their neo-blues roots.

Patrick and Ben W. then hit the jackpot when they found Ben S. and Dylan to join the lineup as frontman and drummer respectively. With this new lineup the band found their stride and their sound. They had a string of successful shows in Lawrence with other local bands such as Hireth, the Red and Blues, Sunflower Native, and Goodbye Gravity (KC). They also had played a killer set at Rock-A-Thon (you can catch the whole set on their youtube channel) and went on tour with the Canadian band the Wilderness. After tour the band went on a recording hiatus to work on their debut ep "Chasing the Moon" which will be released in August.

The band has big plans for the future looking to combine high energy performances with theory driven music to take the Lawrence music scene by storm. Be sure you don't miss one of their electric sets this upcoming Fall!

I wrote some songs and recorded them and then my friends made me start a band with them in it.
